A nut with "ears" commonly referred to as "wings" designed to tighten and loosen with your fingers. Ideal when parts are regulary added or removed and high torque not required. Most commony types are cold formed (solid steel or stainless steel) and stamped (thin steel stamped into wing shape). They are also available in a zinc-dicast material with a flnaged shoulder, which are commonly used for hurricane shutters.
