Tap Bolts, Hex Head, Fully Threaded

What is a tap bolt?

Hex head tap bolts are threaded from the point up to the head with a chamfered point to facilitate mating with an internally threaded component. They have a variety of uses in manufacturing, construction and automotive applications. Tap bolts are designed for use in fully threaded drilled and tapped holes.

Hex head tap bolts are hex head bolts with a fully threaded shank (threading from the point up to the head) and a chamfered point to facilitate mating with an internally threaded component. Tap bolts have similar tolerances to hex head cap screws and commonly referred to as fully threaded cap screws. Because they are fully threaded, tap bolts can be used is a wider range of material thichnesses than can a partly threaded bolt. We carry a complete line of low carbon mild steel (zinc), Grade 5 (zinc) and Grade 8 (yellow zinc). Available in coarse and fine thread, and in diameters 1/4" to 1-1/4" and up to length of 15". Hex head tap bolts also available in stainless steel 18-8. Grade-8 tap bolts are used when greater tensile strength is required than can be met by a grade-5 tap bolt. Stainless steel tap bolts are used in environments corrosive to carbon steel.
