Self-Piercing Screws

What is a self-piercing screw?

Self piercing screws cut threads as they are driven into sheet metal. As opposed to a standard self tapping or sheet metal screw they do not require a pre-drilled pilot hole. The point, often referred to as a type S point, is extremely sharp allowing penetration. Used for HVAC applications.
